Apr. 11, 2018
I suppose many people are interested in tickets for the Summer Olympics in 2020, so let me introduce what is being discussed about them.
Child-Friendly Policy
On April 11, The Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (TOCOG) held a conference on the ticket strategy. Let’s check the determined policy.
TOCOG hopes to bring fun to as many people as possible, especially major players in the next generation, children and young people. This is why they have a plan to prepare reasonable tickets for them. On the other hand, however, they will need to sell very expensive tickets to cover the revenue loss. Probably some people will complain about it, so clear explanation on the purpose of that will be needed for them. TOCOG will have the second conference on May 15, and they will deepen the discussion.
More About the Tickets
TOCOG will issue approximately 7.8 million tickets for the Olympics. They are seeking to maximize ticket revenue by looking at the success of the Olympics of London 2012 and Rio 2016. They are going to submit a price proposal to International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board this July, hoping to gain approval.
As of now, TOCOG is planning to start selling the tickets in the spring of 2019. You will be able to buy them on the official website and at ticket offices. They have not yet determined the prices of the Paralympics tickets.
